Second Express Entry Draw this week

The Transport Occupations Express Entry Draw was the second one held this week by IRCC. On September 19, 3,200 invitations to apply (ITAs) were issued to candidates in the ‘no program specified’ Express Entry draw. The minimum Comprehensive Ranking Score (CRS) was 531.

The previous Express Entry draw was held on August 15, during which 4,300 invitations to apply (ITAs) were issued to candidates in the all-program Express Entry draw.

What is Express Entry?

Express Entry is a competitive immigration system implemented by the Government of Canada to manage and process applications for permanent residency from skilled foreign workers. It aims to attract and select highly qualified individuals who have the potential to contribute to Canada’s economy and society.

After each draw, candidates with the highest CRS scores (according to the cut-off) are issued ITAs, allowing them to apply for permanent residency.

To align with the labour market needs and promote the French language, IRCC introduced new category-based selection criteria on May 31. The six new categories include:

  • Healthcare
  • STEM professions
  • Trades
  • Transport
  • Agriculture and agri-food
  • French-language proficiency
