In the coming years, Canada will be a home to more than a million new immigrants! Although there are several secured pathways to immigrate to Canada and one of them is the Pilot Program.
These pilot programs are limited period programs. These are especially introduced to address the needs of specific regions and communities in Canada. The primary aim of this program is to bring skilled, semi-skilled and unskilled foreign nationals to Canada. These immigrants will further help those regions to meet the shortages created. It also enables the immigrants to apply for permanent residency, if they want to continue to stay and work in the country.
The applicants under this program will be filling the gap in the labor force.
The different categories under the Canadian pilot program are:
This pilot is designed to address the shortages in the labour market of the individual towns and communities in Canada. Like the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), you should get a job offer from an employer based in that specific community or town. After getting the job offer the local government will nominate you for permanent residency. The best part is that there is no standard skill required. Most occupational skills and levels are eligible.
You may be eligible to submit a permanent residency application under Atlantic Immigration Pilot programs if you are:
In 2018 the Atlantic Immigration Pilot Program (AIPP) was geared to welcome at least 2500 new immigrants to the Atlantic region. But the goal soared to 4000 by 2020. Initially, being a three-year pilot program, it has been extended upto December 2021.
Along with the extended timeline and the contracting labour force of the region, this is a great time to get a permanent residency visa through this pathway.
This pilot program enables the unskilled and skilled foreign nationals to get a pathway to permanent residency in Canada. Since Canada has a shortage of labour in the food production industry, this program has been introduced to address that issue. Every year, the IRCC processes approximately 2750 permanent residency’s applications for international farm labourers, farm supervisors, harvesters, butchers, and food processing labourers. As the programs operate on the first come first serve basis, so it is important to apply early.
Initially named old caregiver program is now divided into two pilot programs:
This pilot program is designed for immigrants who can work as a nanny and au pairs to the minors.
Home Support Work Pilot
Under this program the foreign workers with a valid job offer for looking after elderly, disabled or otherwise incapacitated persons, are eligible for permanent residency of Canada.
To apply under this pilot program, the employers do not need Labour Market Impact Assessments (LMIA) to hire foreign workers.
