Express Entry Draw update - Immigration Consultant Brampton

Update on Express Entry Draws held recently by IRCC

In the latest Express Entry draw held by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) they have extended invitations to more candidates.

On August 3rd, the department issued 1,500 invitations to apply in the first-ever targeted category-based Express Entry draw for candidates in the trades. To qualify, candidates were required to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 388.

The initiative aims to attract skilled workers in professions such as carpentry, plumbing, and welding to bolster Canada’s construction sector. By creating this category, Canada seeks to address labor shortages and efficiently select candidates with relevant trade experience for immigration.

1st and 2nd Aug Draw

To further expand opportunities for candidates, IRCC conducted a category-based draw on August 2nd, specifically targeting individuals with French proficiency. In this draw, 800 invitations to apply were issued to eligible candidates, with a minimum CRS score of 435.

On August 1st, all-program Express Entry draws resumed, inviting 2,000 candidates from the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP), and the Canadian Experience Class (CEC). To receive an invitation in this round, candidates needed a minimum CRS score of 517. It marked the first all-program draw since July 11th.

11th and 12th July Draw

Earlier, on July 11-12, IRCC invited 3,800 French-speaking candidates to apply for permanent residency under a category-based selection draw, setting a minimum CRS score of 375—the lowest CRS score for any Express Entry draw in 2023.

On July 11th, an all-program draw conducted by Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) resulted in invitations being extended to 800 candidates. To be eligible for this draw, candidates were required to have a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 505.

Category based draws under Express Entry System

Throughout July, IRCC conducted several targeted draws, including invitations to candidates with work experience in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) occupations, healthcare professionals, and those with strong French-speaking abilities.

Express Entry is a merit-based application management system overseeing the three main economic immigration programs in Canada. Candidates are evaluated based on various factors such as work experience, education, language ability, and age, which contribute to their CRS score. The highest-scoring candidates are more likely to receive invitations to apply for permanent residency.

To align with labor market needs and promote the French language, IRCC introduced new category-based selection criteria on May 31. The six new categories include healthcare, STEM professions, trades, transport, agriculture, and strong French-language proficiency.

By continuously updating and refining the Express Entry system, Canada aims to attract and retain skilled individuals who can contribute to the country’s economic growth and diversity.
