BREAKING: 18 Month Post-Graduate Work Permit Extension Public Policy Now Open
IRCC has at last released instruction for the new PGWP extension public policy on 2nd Aug 2022. The public policy is applicable to all individuals whose PGWP expires from September 20, 2021 to December 31, 2022. However, the date your PGWP and passport expire will determine whether you must submit an online application, or whether an updated PGWP will automatically be mailed to you.
An updated PGWP will automatically be mailed to you in mid-October if:
- Your PGWP expires from October 2, 2022 to December 31, 2022, your passport is valid through April 2023 and your mailing address is valid
You are awaiting a response on your TR to PR application, your passport is valid through December 2024, and your mailing address is valid.
An updated PGWP will automatically be mailed to you in mid-November if:
- Your PGWP expires from October 2, 2022, to December 31, 2022, and either:
- your mailing address needs to be updated
- the passport stated in your last IRCC application is not valid through April 2023, but your current passport is valid through April 2023
* In this case, you will receive email instructions from IRCC from August-September on how to update both. Make sure you follow all instructions within the stipulated time-period to receive your PGWP.
You must submit an online application if:
- Your PGWP expires from September 20, 2021 to October 1, 2022
- Your current passport expires before April 2023
- You are awaiting a response on your TR to PR application and your current passport expires before December 2024 or your mailing address needs to be updated
*If you are in Canada and your temporary status has expired, you will also need to apply for restoration. Under this policy, you can restore your status even if it expired more than 90 days ago.
