General Skilled Migration

This Category is for Skilled Professionals who have good command over English language as well as Qualifications and Skills for an occupation that are listed on Short Term, Medium & Long Term Occupation Lists.  Since workers are in great demand in Australia, anyone meeting these criteria are eligible to Submit Expression of Interest (EOI) for Visa.

EOI Application is assessed against a point’s test, the SkillSelect program has a pass mark of 65 points. Candidates enter the pool and are ranked based on their points, which is calculated based on factors such as Age, Education, Skilled Work Experience, Partner Skills and Language proficiency in English. A set number of the highest-ranked candidates are invited to apply for Visa through regular draws held every month by Department of Home Affairs, Australia. Once, candidate receives Invitation to Apply Visa (ITA), they have 60 days to submit the application & documents. It takes approximately 8-12 months to decide the application.

Criteria

The following are some of the basic and or minimum requirements to be met by an applicant:

  • Occupation nomination. This should be done in line with your skills and the available nominations under the Skilled Occupation Lists.
  • Requisite qualifications and skills which are to be assessed based on the nominated occupation and position.
  • English competency.
  • An age limit of 45 years.
  • The satisfaction of requisite medical and character tests.

Subclass 189: Skilled Independent Visa

Subclass 190: Skilled Nominated Visa

Just like the skilled independent visa, the skilled nominated visa requires that you be of competent skills that will do good to the economy of Australia. Furthermore, your occupation ought to be in the Short-term Short-term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL). You will need State Nomination for sure for this visa class.

Subclass 491: Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) Visa

The new Skilled Work Regional (Provisional) visa (Subclass 491) has emerged as a replacement to the Skilled Regional Nominated visa (Subclass 489).This visa 491 allows the eligible skilled workers and their families to live, work and study in designated regional areas of Australia for a period of 5 years. The eligibility for Permanent Residence can be established by the visa holder after 3 years of continuous work. The Australian state or territory government agency must have nominated these applicant for this visa. If not, a sponsorship from a family member residing in the designated regional area is required. The applicant must have also received an invite to apply for visa after submitting Expression of Interest in SkillSelect

Subclass 887: Skilled Regional Visa

With no requisite points attainment for this visa, the Skilled Regional offers permanent residency in Australia. You ought to, however, have been granted both a provisional skilled visa for the independent regional and designated area categories.
